Typically, at the beginning of the day, a budtender enters a starting amount, performs sales transactions during the day, and at the end of the day, enters an ending amount. The cashier performs a tender declaration, closes the shift, and runs an X report to see whether there is an overage or shortage.
To start your new shift you will first launch the IndicaOnline App on your iPad. You will then be presented with the login pin pad.
*You can tell if a shift is open or close before logging in.
*You can find your iPad's name (register's name) on the login screen.
*You can find your domain name on your login screen.
Once you enter your pin you will be presented with an option to open your shift. (see below for a detailed explanation of what each section is on this particular screen)
Open Shift/Close Shift: This is what you will press to open the shift once you log in.
Deactivate Register: There are many reasons why you would deactivate a cash register. (i.e. replacing an iPad, removing registers from your account, moving registers from one shop to another; click here for an article that tells you how to delete a register from your shop).
Opening amount: is the amount of cash you open your shift with.
Cash tenders: is the amount of cash collected.
Safe Drops: Cash withdrawals made from your register into your safe.
Returns: If any customer made any returns for that particular shift you will see that amount here.
Expected Drawer: This is the amount of cash that is expected to be in the drawer after shift closes. This will include opening amount + cash tenders - safe drops - returns
Actual Drawer: is the amount of cash you close your shift with.
Over: Here you will see the difference if the amount of cash doesn't match the "Expected Drawer" amount.
Print X Report: Snapshot of what has occurred within the shift up until that point.
Logout: This feature is great if you open one shift for all your staff and each performs transactions under their own pin number. (click here to find out how to set auto-logout after each transaction)
Closing a shift:
There are several ways to close a shift and this will be based on the preference of each dispensary. If your budtenders have the right permissions they will be able to close their shift themselves by doing the following:
On your menu go to:
Register
Select Shifts (as pictured below)
Close Shift
If you prefer to have a manager open and close shifts and your budtenders can login to any registers through a shift. You may close a shift doing the following:
From your admin (or manager profile. Note that you must have the POS Manager permission turned on):
Menu
Registers
From your list select the register you want to close
Click close
