Metrc is the software used by the State government to track marijuana and marijuana products. With IndicaOnline and Metrc integration you will be able to automate many processes that would otherwise have to be done manually in both systems.
Metrc Data Pushed to IndicaOnline:
Metrc imposed several limitations on how POS companies can integrate with Metrc and there are several processes that have to be done directly in Metrc:
- Creating transfer manifests for customer deliveries, vendor returns, or transfer between facilities
- Accepting/Rejecting incoming transfers from vendors or other facilities
- Changing unit of measure prior to accepting the package.
Once the incoming manifest or package is accepted in the Metrc system, IndicaOnline will automatically pull all the information from that package so you don’t need to do any double entry.
To avoid any discrepancies between Metrc and IndicaOnline, you have to perform certain actions only in IndicaOnline. Do not perform these actions in Metrc when using IndicaOnline integration:
- Adjust package quantity
- Split packages
- Merge packages
- Close packages
- Post Sales
If you or your employees do some of these actions, please contact IndicaOnline for further assistance.
IndicaOnline Data pushed to Metrc:
IndicaOnline is able to automate certain tasks for you so you don’t have to perform entries in two systems. IndicaOnline will push:
- Sales from associated packages
- Changes in quantity for all packages
- Change of the product prices
- Closed packages
- Combining or splitting packages
You will do the following tasks in IndicaOnline:
- Create product profiles for cannabis and non-cannabis products
- Add quantity to the products once the transfer is accepted in Metrc
- Report sales to Metrc automatically
- Close packages
- Make adjustments to the packages and track the reasons
To ensure that your inventory is accurate and compliant, we require you to make package adjustments only through your IndicaOnline account unless directed otherwise.
Using Prepackages vs Hand Weighing
Depending on your state you may be able to hand weigh your products or all product will be prepackaged prior to retail transaction.
If your store does hand weighing, you will have 2 options to track which package each sale should be deducted from: select the package at the moment of sale at the POS, or print a barcode for the active package (which is currently being sold).
Selecting packages at the point of sale might be confusing for your employees once you have many packages in stock at the same time, this is why we recommend printing a barcode to associate with each active package. This way you will print a barcode for an active package which is currently on the floor and by scanning it, IndicaOnline will automatically pull the weight from the proper package.
If you are selling prepackaged flower, you will print a unique barcode from IndicaOnline for each prepackage increment to assign it to a specific Metrc package. This way IndicaOnline will pull proper weight from proper Metrc package when you’re selling from prepackages.
Selling Pre Rolls
In IndicaOnline you will sell all prerolls as a unit product. Depending on your state you might be able to have prerolls as a separate unit product or the prerolls will be part of a specific strain.
If you have the prerolls as a separate unit product, you will select the package which the prerolls are part of and print IndicaOnline barcodes for each associated package. You can also select an appropriate Metrc package at the point of sale. Reporting to Metrc can be done in grams or in pieces depending on your state.
If you treat your prerolls as part of the strain, you will allocate a specific weight to create prerolls within the product profile of the strain. Your prerolls will be sold as units but weight will be recorded to Metrc and your reports.
