According to the legislative system of the State of California, the purchasing and selling of marijuana products should be limited to a certain extent. In order to comply with the law, IndicaOnline enables the feature that will allow keeping track of the products purchased and will notify you along with the Potify users in case the limit has been exceeded.
The limits value suggested further in the article is provided by the Bureau of Cannabis Control (BCC). We strongly recommend you refer to BCC in a timely manner for any changes in the amount of cannabis allowed to be sold and purchased.
To set up purchasing limits in your company, do the following:
- Log in to your IndicaOnline account and make sure you have the Manage Purchasing Limits permission under the General section enabled. Admins will have the permission checkbox checked by default. In case it is unchecked, you will not have access to the Purchasing Limits tab.
- Navigate to Config on the lower left side of the screen and click the Purchasing Limits tab to bring up the settings page. Switch the Enable Purchasing Limits toggle on to start setting up the limits.
- Think of a limit name that would be understood by the users on Potify in case they exceed the purchasing limit. An easy-to-understand name of the limit will help them with deciding what products they should exclude from the order.
- Select one of the three ways the limits will be calculated by: Weight, Unit or Total Weight of Cannabis Concentrate (TWCC).
In order to set the limit for the total weight of cannabis concentrate (TWCC) the product contains, make sure this information is filled out in the product profile under the Inventory section for Unit and Unit Range products. Please refer to your manufacturer if you do not know the total weight of cannabis concentrate in a product.
- Select product types you would like to include in the limit and set the amount of marijuana a recreational or medial patient can purchase. Leaving the Recreational or Medical checkboxes unchecked means that no limits are applied to these types of patients. Click + Add New Rule to create one more limit.
Remember that the Product Type selected for one limit will not be possible to use for another. It means that if you have 11 product types and used 6 of them for the limit calculated by weight, you will have 5 product types left for other limits.
For California, we suggest the following product type division according to the way the limits are calculated, and the following daily limit for the recreational and medical patients to comply with the law:
Weight (Weight, Weight Range products, Unit, Unit Range products with the Net Weight field filled out and the Each Only toggle turned off):
Product Type |
Recreational |
Medical |
---|---|---|
|
28.35 g | 226.8 g |
Product Type |
Recreational |
Medical |
---|---|---|
|
6 pcs | 12 pcs |
Product Type |
Recreational |
Medical |
---|---|---|
|
8 g | 226.8 g |
After the limits have been set, the following can happen on POS registers:
As you start creating an order for the patient, the system checks the patient's types and immediately calculates the limit for them as you add products one by one to the cart. Once the amount of Weight, Unit or TWCC in the order exceeds the limit a notification pop-up is displayed.
If you have not made any adjustments to the order and are ready to proceed to payment or save the order to be picked up or delivered, the last warning notification will appear. You can choose to reduce the amount of product in the cart to comply with the law or continue without changes making it your own responsibility.
You will be also notified if the patient has already exceeded any of the daily limits in the previous orders.
The limits will be calculated for the patients placing orders on Potify as well. In case the limit is exceeded, it will be impossible to make a purchase and the patient will have to reduce the amount of product will have to be reduced to comply with the purchasing limit.
It is our responsibility to notify you if the quantity of MMJ products in the order exceeds the allowed amount. However, in case of any Metrc related issues (e.g., Metrc being unresponsive or patient recommendation information update being late, etc.), you may still proceed with the order on your POS register without receiving information on limits.
